If there’s been one thing that’s been difficult for me to do on this site, it’s to be consistent with blogs. It hasn’t been out of laziness or anything else like that. It’s just been difficult for me to know what to write about from the aspect of photography. Sure, I could write about technical things like the exposure triangle and how to shoot in manual mode etc but there’s already tons of information on photography out there, I’d only be adding a pebble to an already well built house. Plus there’s so much I’m still learning myself that I don’t feel I’d be the right person to be giving any kind of technical advice.
Of course, this leads on to another thing. Even if I did write blogs on camera settings and all that other boring stuff, is this really what you’re even remotely interested in? Who am I even writing this blog for? It’s for these reasons that my blog has been so minimal.
I only ever post a blog whenever I’ve shot a gig and personally, I’m not happy with doing that. Blogs should either be informative, engaging, educational, creative or all of these things and much more. What I’ve been doing is show and tell. “Oh look, here’s a gig I was at and here’s some pretty pictures, hope you like it!” Honestly, nobody cares. I don’t mean that in a bad way. I know people who follow me appreciate what I do but the show and tell style of blogging adds nothing of value to anyone, myself included.
All these thoughts lead to me posting this on my personal Facebook account:
A new blog site. Creating a whole new blog where I can write whatever I want, be as creative as I want and not restrict my way of thinking to photography all the time. It would be a whole new creative outlet for me to show more of myself as a person and maybe even create some engaging content for a whole new audience of two people. As concert photography has become more of a hobby lately, I will be adding my concert photos into this new blog.
So what does this mean for Aatish Photography? Well, nothing really that new. It will just be focused mainly on portraits so expect to see lots more faces on here than before. The site itself will be getting a bit of a facelift to look more business orientated, with specific photography services in mind. I won’t go into to too much detail yet but expect to see some changes to the website and my social media pages very soon.
The only question I have left to answer is, what will the title of my new blog site be?
