Muthers Studio In Digbeth, Birmingham, is better known amongst musicians for offering rehearsal rooms to hire for band practice. Yet somewhere within its labyrinth of lock ups and studios is a room dedicated for concerts, complete with a bar, stage and spacious enough for a small crowd to enjoy live music.
Personally, I love shooting in rooms like this, especially when bands like Strange Bones are playing. As wild and as energetic Strange Bones are, their audience turn up to their gigs with just as much purpose as the band. There’s so much raw energy to capture at gigs like this that I wouldn’t otherwise get from shooting at stadiums or medium sized venues that place restrictions on audiences and photographers.
I’ll let these images tell the rest of the story. Support from Rascalton and Secret Elephant.
